OCT 2023 – PRESENT
Study Breaks is an online magazine written and illustrated by college students across the country about trending media, emerging artists and contemporary culture. The magazine provides insight into the cultural milieu from the perspective of Gen Z.
As an illustrator at Study Breaks, I strive to uplift the writers' voices through visuals. I find it important to accurately represent the writers' concepts and find ways to present their ideas symbolically and beyond the obvious.
Below are some of my favorite illustrations I have created during the internship.
"Rules I swear by that will help you cope with impending post-grad stress."
"An ode to the flavors of Palestine, a culture exemplified through their soulful cooking and heartfelt social traditions."
"A book review on “My Year Of Rest and Relaxation” and the novel’s lasting effect."
"Who are Sammy Rae and The Friends and Why Is Their Music So Good?"
"2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf."
The Wonders of Weeki Wachi by Sydney Chastain
"A roadside attraction brought mermaids, Hollywood and Elvis to Florida."
"Rules of language are extensive and weird."
"Looking at Comedic Techniques and Comedy in Hannah Gadsby's "Nanette" Special Through the Post #MeToo Lens."
"Whip out your rolling pin and tie up your apron. It’s baking season."
"What happens when you ditch your playlists and listen to the radio for a day?"
"A preview into 2024 and the major political, scientific, and technological events that await us the new year."
